CCAT will hold its project closure event on 2nd Feb. 2022 to showcase the tools that were developed during the project.

CCAT will hold this free, online closure event to showcase the tools that were developed during the project to support coastal communities in Ireland and Wales understand climate change and how to adapt. The project developed a range of tools for engaging with local authorities, educators, young people, communities groups, policymakers and academics. This showcase event will highlight some of these tools such as geodesign workshops, educational resources, participatory mapping projects, academic research and online events. The project partners will explore the challenges and opportunities of these tools as well as the impact of COVID-19 and the next steps.

The event will open with a message from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins and the guest speaker will be Vicky Brown, CCAT Advisory Group member and CEO of Cool Planet Experience and rewriteclimate.

CCAT is a pilot project that was part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Cooperation Programme and ran from 2019 to 2021. The project was led by University College Dublin in partnership with Fingal County Council and University College Cork in Ireland and Cardiff University, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum and the Port of Milford Haven in Wales. The aim of the project was to support coastal communities in Fingal and Pembrokeshire understand climate change and how to adapt.
