EmpathyWorks Leadership Consultancy CIC has been awarded a micro-commission through Carmarthenshire’s Connecting Carmarthenshire Preventative Services to design and deliver a reintegration project for individuals transitioning from custody into safer, healthier community life. The project is based at The EmpathyWorks Leadership Institute in Parc Dewi Sant. This is a calm, relational hub developed specifically to support people who need structured, compassionate reintegration support outside traditional statutory systems.

The focus of the programme is to provide a safe space and structured pathway for individuals who are at risk of social isolation, emotional overwhelm, early-stage crisis, or the beginnings of behaviours that could escalate into harm or formal involvement with the criminal justice system. The participants will be adults and those navigating complex lives, but the programme is flexible enough to welcome anyone who needs support in rebuilding stability, confidence and connection.

The project offers three core strands:

  1. Leadership and Personal Development – helping individuals develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, decision-making, and future direction through trauma-aware leadership tools.

  2. Practical Reintegration Support – including structured mentoring, goal-setting, confidence building, communication skills, and strengthening daily routines.

  3. Connection and Community – building links with services, wellbeing activities, volunteering opportunities, and safe pathways back into education, training or meaningful roles.

The programme is shaped by consultation with local authority teams, probation and police colleagues, community organisations and, crucially, individuals with lived experience. This ensures the work is rooted in real needs and current pressures across Carmarthenshire.

Outcomes include increased confidence, reduced isolation, improved self-regulation, re-engagement with positive activities or services, and a clearer sense of belonging and purpose. As a micro-commission, this pilot will also help establish evidence, relationships and learning that can inform future scaled or longer-term provision across the region.
