Hard Places / Human Leaders
A leadership development experience for people working under pressure
Not all leadership happens in boardrooms. Some of the most demanding leadership in Carmarthenshire is carried out quietly, in care settings and social care settings, community services, front-line roles, justice work, housing, youth services, and safeguarding teams. This course is designed for those carrying emotional weight on behalf of others, often without space to process or restore themselves.
Hard Places / Human Leaders offers a supportive, reflective programme that helps practitioners strengthen their inner capacity to lead well in complex, human-facing environments. It focuses not on management techniques, but on presence, emotional steadiness, boundaries, psychological safety and personal resilience, the parts of leadership that hold people together when work is heavy.
Participants will:
-
Explore what it means to lead humanely, not just functionally
-
Develop tools for restoring emotional and psychological capacity
-
Build confidence in holding difficult conversations without burnout
-
Reconnect with purpose and identity in role
-
Learn alongside peers from other services facing similar pressures
This programme is ideal for those working with vulnerability, risk, trauma or community challenge, especially where “carrying others” is part of the day-to-day reality.
If you are working in a hard place, this course is designed to help you remain a human leader within it.
