Details of session
Quilling is an ancient paper craft where strips of paper are rolled into circles and then shaped. The pieces are used to make beautiful pictures and designs.
We will be making a tree, these uses only one shape and so is great for beginners; the shape is made in many colours and sizes to create variety. The trunk is made from simple scrolls. Quilling can be fiddly and a tool will be provided to make coiling the paper easier. We will also supply a board to assist with making specific sizes of coil. The paper we send you will be precut to a width of 5mm.
You will need to supply scissors for cutting strips to length, PVA glue and an applicator (such as a brush or a fine needle nosed bottle) glue is minimal, too much glue ruins the paper. You may find it easier to print the design and keep it under a sheet of acrylic, once dry the quilling can be easily removed from the acrylic sheet.
For those with dexterity issues, it may be best to make the shapes in small batches before the session, we can point you to videos to help or, if there is enough call for it set up a separate session to do the basic shape making.
