ABOUT STEWART HAYTER

A former RAF officer, pilot, logistician and explosives specialist. A hotelier and senior manager in the Defence Industry; with wife Karen, lived and worked for many years in the Middle East. Has travelled widely. An eclectic range of interests that include amongst others history, travel and aviation. An experienced presenter in person and by zoom of illustrated talks to groups both large and small.

The biggest explosion in the UK and one of the biggest in the world when the RAF’s primary explosives depot blew up! This presentation traces the background to the massive build- up of bombs to support Bomber Command in WWII before the awful events at RAF Fauld played- out on 27 November 1944. Nearly 4000 tons of bombs exploded causing widespread devastation with many lives being lost
