Early Doors – “It’s Never Too Early to Set Up the Home You Need for the Future You Deserve”

The “Early Doors” project aims to prioritise housing through the lens of health and wellbeing, innovating the preventative agenda to set Carmarthenshire residents up for success. The project addresses the urgent need for safe and suitable housing, which affects over 1000 citizens annually, leading to crises that impact emotional, physical, and spiritual health, and increase the risk of abuse and damaged relationships.

Key Principles

Early Intervention: Proactively reaching out to the community without waiting for crises to escalate.
Community Engagement: Being a visible part of the community to foster resilience, preparation, and empowerment.
Collaboration: Pooling assets and working with partners for maximum impact.
Innovation: Challenging barriers, promoting change, and embracing new techniques.
Project Goals
Increase Early Access: Support more people to access services before reaching statutory housing duty eligibility.
Enhance Community Visibility and Awareness: Double the community’s awareness and understanding of available services.
Boost Resilience and Empowerment: Ensure service participants feel more resilient and empowered.
Foster Collaboration: Achieve satisfaction among partners for collaboration and asset pooling.
Promote Innovation: Ensure stakeholders recognise the project’s innovative and solution-focused approach.

This project will explore what happens from the health and social care perspective, when people are supported effectively to see their strengths, to prioritise their needs and wishes, to plan and strategize moving forward and developing awareness to their motivators to stay focused on their personal aspirations and supported to achieve their goals.

The project will benefit Carmarthenshire residents by building community resilience and reducing demand on statutory services. It aims to decrease the prevalence of mental health and substance misuse services by addressing root causes and promoting independence and wellbeing.
