We want everyone everywhere to encounter God’s love and be empowered to transform their communities through faith shared in words and action. Our work is unconditional, tackling social deprivation through partnership and collaboration to help empower individuals and communities.
Everything we do is built on the foundations laid by Wilson Carlile. A visionary with an extraordinary idea that would inspire generations of evangelists and give hope to millions in their time of need.
Church Army centres of mission are hubs that build relationships, support those living in poverty, and grow creative, accessible church communities. Each centre of mission looks different. They are shaped entirely by the needs of their area; activities, initiatives, and outreach programs vary massively depending on the context.
Llanelli and the Morfa area were once key parts of the industrial revolution, with the town playing a major role in the steel and copper industries. For almost 200 years, the steel and copper works dominated this coastline. Today, the industrial works have vanished and the area is now the third most deprived in Carmarthenshire. Statistics show a high level of unemployment and people with little disposable income, and even those with jobs often only have a limited number of working hours. The area also struggles with a high rate of crime and drug-related issues. Llanelli Centre of Mission aims to reach families in the area with the love of God.
