About the Research
The Cynefin Connections sessions are part of my research project, examining how digital technologies can be used to support nature connection for wellbeing. We’ll be using things like wildlife cameras and specialist microphones (pictured, left) to get to know the nature at the Cynefin Green Health Hub in Carmarthen. My research explores the human-nature-digital tools experience and how this relates to your wellbeing. It will involve asking you about your opinion through questionnaires, relaxed interviews and some reflective journalling.
About Me, the Researcher/Facilitator
I am a PhD student and bushcraft specialist trainer with interests in wildlife, conservation and human-nature relationships. I have a Master’s degree in Outdoor Education and have been providing wellbeing sessions in nature since 2017. I also share these skills through training professionals for one of the UK’s leading specialist bushcraft providers. My unique perspective and commitment to best practice means I enjoy regularly presenting at national conferences and recently, internationally too!
My interest in digital technology and nature connection comes from a curiosity to learn about and experience nature in many different ways – using wildlife cameras and digital microscopes allows us to see and experience what we couldn’t otherwise. I am excited to collaborate with you as part of the local community to see what we can learn together in the process.
What’s expected of you?
The courses are free of charge – all I ask is that you have some real interest in participating in my study and committing to attend the 6 sessions as best you can.
