My name is Paul Allchurch and I want to share with you my journey of how volunteering got me where I am today, and how volunteering can be important in supporting one "journey of hope." |
To put it in some context and share my background with you, volunteering has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From my early teens with St John Ambulance to today with Carers Wales as a Media Volunteer. |
In every role, my love for the sector is as strong now as ever, and I firmly believe the sector mission statement of 'making a difference'. |
This is especially important to me, as it is embedded throughout my existence and journey. |
My one constant has been my love of the nonprofit sector and that I know I'm making a difference. It has also been a key feature of my "journey of hope" as it supports the belief that if you love what you do, you don't have to work again! |
So, when I saw the advertisement for the role as Volunteering Mentoring Officer for the Carmarthenshire Association Voluntary Services, this was an opportunity that I could not ignore, so I applied, and I was shortlisted for it. |
I was interviewed, which was great to have, as I got to that stage. I remember the day of the interview, as it was a very wet and windy day, and the car didn't start! |
Then I had to wait for the result and then on the Friday the Chief Officer of CAVS, informed that I was successful. |
So here I am today working with CAVS as their new Volunteer Mentoring Officer and I love every minute of it! |
In short – If you can dream, You can live and achieve anything you want to be. |
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES AND DON'T GIVE UP!
