Rory

Hello everyone my name is Rory and I am 38 years old.

I am a volunteer at the Carmarthen British Red Cross shop once a week, where I stock the shelves with books and DVDs. stock rotation, and help out in the back room.

As well as the Red Cross shop. I sit on the easy read group for the Hywel Dda University Health Board. 

Also with the Health Board, I have also helped to teach student speech and language therapists sign language.

Now I do volunteering at the John Burns Foundation with Mencap which is brill 

Helping out at the John Burns Foundation with Mencap is great as each week the group gets to do different jobs each week such as gardening, cooking, and even going out on day trips.

Mencap and the John Burns Foundation treat everyone as equal which I believe is really important. 

The advice I would give to someone who wants to give volunteering a go is this;

Do your research on what kind of voluntary work you would like to do by going online or popping into the CAVS office in Carmarthen where staff there will be able to help you.

Do not be afraid to give anything a go
